MULTICORP Frequently Asked Questions

Installation IssuesLanguage and Regional IssuesSoftware Issues

Installation Issues

My IT department installed MULTICORP 4.2.37 in my computer under the folder D:\MULTICORP. When I choose to run the single run, it shows the corrosion graph, but it does not plot anything and never stops.

This issue has been solved for the version MULTICORP 4.2.43 and the version after. If you installed MULTICORP 4.2.42 or the earlier versions, you might need to reinstall it under your UserHome drive, most likely C: drive.

My IT department installed MULTICORP 4.2.49 in my computer as an administrator. I only have guest account in my computer. MULTICORP crashes when I try to set water chemistry.

MULTICORP 4 cannot work with a guest account. MULTICORP reads and writes to C disk, which requires administrative access.

I need to have site code to activate MULTICORP 4 license, and repeat this procedure for each individual machine. However, MULTICORP 3 did not require site code. Can you provide license served for the entire network (eg. floating license)?

The reason that MULTICORP 3 did not required site code is that it was not wrapped by licenses service. Thanks for your suggestion about floating license. We will contact the license company and explore more info.

Language and Regional Issues

I am running none-English version of Windows XP. What should I do to enable MULTICORP4.2 in my machine?

We cannot guarantee MULTICORP working correctly in non-English version of Windows XP. Since some characters and data formats are not consistent with English environment, program may crash. For example, decimal symbol in U.S.A is “.”; however, it is “,” in European couontries.
For short-term solutions, please follow steps below to reset your computer configurations.
  1. Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Regional Options
  2. Click “Customize…” button in Standards and Formats.
  3. Select “Numbers” tab, Set “Decimal symbol:” to be “.”
  4. Set “Digit grouping symbol:” to be “,”
  5. Click “OK” or “Apply” button

For long-term solutions, language and regional issues are addressed and will be solved in MULTICORP 5 development.

I have English version of Windows XP. But in MULTICORP Main window, the unit for Temperature is not shown. And I attempted to run simulation, it crashed.

We suspect that your ‘Language for non-Unicode Programs’ is set to be non-English. To solve this issue, go to Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Advanced, set ‘Language for non-Unicode Programs’ and select it to be ‘English (United States)’.

Software Issues

Program crashes when it loads Main Form. The error message is “Subscript out of range”. I am using Italian (non-English) version of Microsoft Office.

The reason is due to the connection between MULTICORP and Excel (the latter being used to display graphs). This issue has been solved for the MULTICORP 4.2.48 and the version after. If you are using the earlier version update your program.

I want to display ‘Flow Regime Map’, the map is shown but the graph elements are in the wrong place. I am using Office 2007.

The map and any Excel related display functions in MULTICORP are designed and tested for Microsoft Excel 2003. Flow Regime Map has been redesigned to work on both office 2003 and 2007 for the version MULTICORP 4.2.43 and later versions. However, it is not tested yet for Microsoft office 2010.

Turned on Multicorp 4.2, clicked on the three-phase flow tab, then on the ‘oil/water/gas’ button, then on ‘Multicorp’ button, then ‘Flow Regime Map’ Button. The flow regime map doesn’t appear but an error message is as following:
  Run-time error ‘-2147417851 (80010105)’
Method ‘~’ of object ‘~’ failed

The reason is one of the graph is missing. This issue is solved for the installation package released with version 4.2.43.

I click Pause button in the processing window of single run during simulation and then click Continue button. Program crashed at the end of simulation.

It is related to multithreading issue, this bug is fixed in the version MULTICORP 4.2.53.

I tried to use the acceleration factor in the processing window of single run and sometimes simulation is stalled, plot is not updated and never stops.

This is related to interaction between MULTICORP Visual Basic part and MULTICORP Fortran simulator, which is also the reason that you can not repeat them easily. Issues related to reading files will be solved in MULTICORP V4.55.

I am running MULTICORP in Windows 7 computer. I click the Help button and try to review help file. A window pops up to ask “Why can’t I get help from this program?”

This problem occurs in both Windows Vista and Window 7. Both of them do not contain the application for reading *.hlp files in these operating systems. In order to be able to read MULTICROP help file you will have to download and install Windows update that contains this application. You can click the following link to download the appropriate version of Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe) based on the operating system that you are using: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607
Please note that, Windows Validation is required by Microsoft and Internet explorer (IE) browser is suggested when you download Windows Help program.
